** Your Money

The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) met for two days last week and concluded that the economy is not strong enough yet to take away one of its key Covid-19 emergency measures: Purchasing $120 billion in Treasuries and mortgage bonds to prop up the U.S. economy in the months after the pandemic took hold.
In the FOMC statement, Powell noted that tapering “may soon be warranted.” Some took that to suggest that tapering could begin later in the fall after the debt ceiling fracas is hopefully resolved.

** Your Life

This article explores the idea that being more productive starts with doing nothing. We’re a population of overachievers, trying to make the most of every second of every day because we feel that “there aren't enough hours in the day.” While it may seem that way and we think and re-think ways to add more time, maybe stepping back and actually scheduling quiet time, no matter how brief, throughout the day can help the brain reinforce long-term learning and productivity. Your brain uses free periods for important cleanup work, neurologically speaking. Quiet time can include a longer shower, playing a game without keeping score or being competitive, taking a walk, cooking, sitting down and being still in your own special space, and even napping.
