The stock market immediately implemented its stay-at-home mentality: airline and cruise stocks tanked while drug makers and video services popped.
On the positive side, Moderna has already reported their Omicron booster should be available in early 2022. MRNA vaccines, such as those manufactured by Pfizer and Moderna, can be quickly updated, and businesses have adapted to containment measures, ensuring that the blow from each lockdown has lessened.
Until COVID-19 is completely eradicated, contained, or understood, we should expect variant headlines to throw the market's status quo into turmoil. Then, over time, vaccine and containment headlines can build back market confidence and price in a better future.
