Just three weeks ago, the Social Security cost of living adjustment made headlines with a 5.9% increase, the biggest in 40 years. Last week, however, Medicare announced Part B premiums will jump 14.5% for 2022, far outpacing the original estimate of 6.7%. The deductible for Part B will also increase by over 14%.
With Part B premiums usually deducted from Social Security benefits, officials from the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services expect recipients will still receive a net increase in their monthly checks. But if this premium increase is the beginning of an overall trend in health-related services, that check just won't go as far as it used to.

My husband jokes (maybe not) that I keep shipping carriers in business from my online ordering alone. Statista.com reports US consumers get their major shipping services provided by: 54% USPS, 47.7% UPS, 42% self-collection/click & collect, 37.3 FedEx, 5.7% DHL. (I wonder where the Prime fleet will rank next time.)
Let’s break down 3 major shipping service providers in terms of rates. To generalize, USPS specializes in small, lightweight packages; UPS for larger, heavier packages; and FedEx for special delivery. USPS is the only carrier legally allowed to touch every mailbox in the country—which provides an unparalleled network of delivery to every US household. This enables USPS to provide the lowest rates. However, aside from rates, you may want to further explore convenience, reliability, carrier options/flexibility. That is a completely different and long saga. ‘Tis the season for baking! One of the biggest challenges for us amateur bakers is how to get those cakes to come out of the pan perfectly. Well, meet cake goop. Super easy to make and requires only 3 ingredients—shortening/margarine, oil, and AP flour. You can also make a gluten-free version. Be forewarned though. You need a nice even coat, but if you use too much, it can cause your cake to stick! Just don’t go crazy with it.
