Intergenerational wealth...the idea can conjure visions of a royal dynasty. However, it's much more pedestrian and happens every single day. What we're really talking about is an inheritance and the timing of it.
As you can imagine, we've seen folks who want their last check to bounce; others who are too generous, putting their own security at risk; and everything in between.

Coronavirus has brought out the best and the worst in people. While the best are heartwarming, the worse see opportunities to take advantage of people, make money, and never consider the repercussions to the victim. Scams are at the top of fraud activities during the pandemic. An FBI report confirmed that Americans were victimized by cybercriminals at a record rate in 2020 resulting in $4.2B in total losses.
This article focuses on schemes targeting older adults due to their vulnerability; however, I believe that these scams are applicable to all adults. From the fake IRS or SSA calls trying to scare you to give up personal information in the guise that you will miss a payment or be penalized to fake online shopping sites, the scammers are relentless and can be anywhere in the world. Fight back by being aware and informed.
