Yes, the release of inflation data and the path of interest rates still matter. But this week, SpaceX is taking most of the oxygen out of the room.
The reason may be less about rockets and more about plumbing.
At a reported valuation near $1.75 trillion, SpaceX would immediately become one of the largest public companies in the world. But only about $75 billion of stock is expected to trade freely at first. That creates an unusual setup: a massive company with a relatively small amount of available supply.
Here is where the math matters. Some index funds do not buy because they love a story. They buy because their rules tell them to. If SpaceX gets added quickly to major benchmarks, funds tracking those indexes may need to buy shares whether the price feels reasonable or not.
That demand has to come from somewhere. Funds may need to sell pieces of other holdings to make room. That could create volatility not only in SpaceX, but in the stocks being trimmed to fund the purchase.
The lesson is not that indexing is broken. It is that even “passive” investing still depends on rules, timing, liquidity, and market structure. When those pieces collide, the market can behave less like a weighing machine and more like a crowded doorway.

That is where structured travel can help, especially for solo travelers. A cruise sea day may sound corny, with water aerobics, sushi-making, bingo, disco dancing, and music trivia. But the structure removes friction. You do not have to invent the activity, find the group, or make the first move. You just show up.
Not every trip needs that much scheduling. Still, there is a useful reminder here: sometimes the best travel plan is not just where you want to go. It is how you will make it easier to participate once you are there.
