Your Money
Everyone has a different idea of what it means to retire, but a recent survey of over 15,000 retirees recently identified the biggest common challenge...and it's one that no one is talking about.
Money was mentioned but it wasn't near the top of the list. To sum up the top 3 challenges (regret, health, and identity) into one, the biggest challenge no one is talking about is finding purpose.
An exercise to help find or redefine your purpose involves reviewing activities that allow you to answer yes to any combination of these four questions:
- Are you doing an activity that you love?
- Are you good at it?
- Does the world need what you offer?
- Can you get paid for doing it?
As important, if not more, is allowing your purpose to thrive by considering:
- Does the activity allow you to start small and improve over time?
- Does the activity allow you to release yourself?
- Does the activity pursue harmony and sustainability?
- Does the activity allow you to enjoy the little things?
- Does the activity allow you to focus on the here and now?
