Your Life
Good news is on the horizon with vaccines to combat COVID-19. In the meantime, it might be a long winter of waiting.
The most effective public health messages don't merely tell people what not to do but also tell when they CAN do with minimal risk. NYT's David Leonhardt gives a 3-step guide to risk minimization based on a NYT survey of 700 epidemiologists as well as conversations with experts and colleagues.
- NEVER spend time in a confined space (outside your household) where anyone is unmasked.
- Minimize spending extended time in indoor spaces, even with universal masking.
- There are several less risky activities like walking or jogging or running errands. Just always wear a mask, keep social distanced, and wash your hands frequently.
No doubt, because human beings are social creatures, these 3 guidelines may be very difficult to do. However, we need to hang in there just a while longer and focus on the safety of others and ourselves.
