Your Money

A recent study listed some of the top things people are worried about these days. Unsurprisingly, many were financial. What was surprising was that less than a third of those worried actually spoke to their financial advisor about it.
  1. Help! I'm worried about navigating market swings
  2. Help! The idea that my cost of living could double during retirement is scary
  3. Help! What if my money doesn’t last me through retirement?
Don't be a statistic. If you recently thought something like that, drop us a line to schedule some time to talk and address it.

Your Life

Medicare general enrollment period will begin next month on January 1, 2021 and last through March 31, 2021.  If you enroll during this time, your coverage will start on July 1, 2021.

Here is a great article from the NY Times that answers top 6 questions such as understanding and budgeting costs, dental coverage, claim difficulties, avoiding fraud, and gap coverage for long-term care:

  1. What kind of monthly premiums for either original Medicare or Advantage can I realistically plan on budgeting, especially considering inflation?
  2. How can I get insurance for dental care?
  3. Someone called me claiming to be from Medicare and I gave out my Medicare number. Should I be concerned?
  4. Why does Medicare set my 2019 premium cost using my 2017 income?
  5. In your recent discussion of limitations of Medicare Advantage plans, you did not include information about improper claims denials and the difficulty people have pursuing appeals. That certainly should be part of your coverage.
  6. Can my Plan G Medigap supplemental insurance provider cancel me for 2020?

This year, consider stocking stuffers or gifts that also help out others or the environment.  4Ocean.com is a great option.  Every purchase of a bracelet made from recycled materials funds the removal of one pound of trash from the ocean, rivers and coastlines.  Since 2017, 4Ocean has recovered almost 11.5 million pounds (or ~5,750 tons) of trash.  In addition, purchasing bracelets creates sustainable, living-wage jobs for people in Bali.
