Deloitte State of Consumer Tracker reports monthly on travel sentiment. They report that most people still hesitate to travel and are waiting longer for the pandemic to subside. Travel looks different now. People are traveling further away but staying much, much longer. Basically, they are hunkering down in another location.
However, domestic travel still reigns supreme as the first choice. There are even discussions of requiring a negative COVID-19 test before boarding flights. In the meantime, to prepare: make sure your passport is current; consider buying travel insurance, and understand that travel will take longer. Also, it’s not surprising that even in destinations where vaccinations are widespread, the new norm prevails with mask-wearing, frequent hand-washing, and social distancing.
