Record highs then a sell off ... what happened last week?

These kind of market swings are not uncommon.  More uncommon was the uninterrupted 50% rally since the trough in April.

Nevertheless, the recent economic news has been good, like the highest level of new orders since 2004 and a GDP growth number expected to be somewhere in the high 20s this quarter. This is all due to pent up demand after the 2nd quarter shutdown.

We think GDP will get back to pre-Coronavirus levels in 2021 along with record corporate profits and a broadening out of the recent stock market gains to those companies playing catch-up with the red hot technology sector.

Your Life

Long-term insurance covers ADLs (Activities of Daily Living which are care, not medical, needs) that are not covered by Medicare or medical insurance.  So, everyone should consider long-term coverage (LTC).

Don’t be put off by the thought of paying premiums.  Shop around. According to a recent article, not being insured can be the single biggest devastator to your financial plan.

Also, don’t wait.  The ideal age to purchase LTC is around age 55.  By age 80+, you will either not be able to find coverage, or the premiums will be extremely high.  If you don’t want to lay out money for something you may never use, there is a newer option: a hybrid policy that covers long-term care costs but becomes life insurance paid to heirs if it is not used.

Complexity Simplified

My family and I love to hike.  My husband and I also like to tinker around with ideas for our yards.  Inevitably, we become frustrated when we see plants that we like or dislike that we cannot identify.  Over the years, we’ve tried many different plant identification apps on our smartphones.  NONE worked very well.  All that changed for us when we discovered the app called Picture This.

It’s wonderfully accurate and provides so much information on plants beyond a basic description like conditions for growth, pest & diseases, care guide, uses, questions people often ask, etc.  The only disadvantage is that it comes with a big fee…$30/year.  You do get a limited 7-day free trial.  However, if you like knowing about plants, it’s well worth the expense.
