Your Money
After years of planning—and a hurricane delay—we finally made it to the trip of a lifetime: my long-awaited pilgrimage to Machu Picchu. (Sample pictures here!) Instead, happy couples thrive on something simpler: finding joy in the everyday. By embracing small, meaningful activities, they strengthen their bond and keep things fresh. Here are five cost-free ways they do it:
- Take “micro-adventures.” Explore local gems, try a day trip, or play tourist in your own town.
- Practice parallel play. Enjoy your own hobbies side-by-side, sharing presence without pressure.
- Keep shared rituals. Whether it’s game night or a Sunday walk, consistency builds connection.
- Make chores fun. Add music, shows, or playful challenges to turn the mundane into moments.
- Revisit traditions. Relive inside jokes, favorite songs, or early relationship memories.
Turns out, the little things can be just as magical as Machu Picchu.
