The S&P 500 not only continued its recovery from the bear market last week, but it also went on to set a new record high.  The last record high was about 6-months ago just as the coronavirus was entering the US.

Washington has certainly been a help sending trillions of dollars into an economy it forced to shut down. The big publicly traded companies of the stock market continued to get bigger as their small competition has been hampered or shut down. And stock market investors are forward-looking with an eye on where investments will be 12-18 months from now.

However, a 12-18 month viewpoint overlooks a lot of friction that needs to be worked out over just the next six:
  • a vaccine timeline disappoints
  • 2nd wave of COVID-19
  • an election crisis
  • runaway inflation
  • trade war with China
The author makes some valid points but misses the biggest: the stock market isn't, has never been, nor ever will be the economy.

Your Life

Let’s take a break and steal away for a moment.

Ever watch any Harry Potter movies?  If so, you know about Hogwarts, the boarding school of witchcraft and wizardry which is the primary setting for most of the stories.

JK Rowling created a stunning castle and campus—which the movies brought to life quite well.  Since we can’t physically travel right now, let’s travel via these amazing pictures of real castles that rival the beauty of Hogwarts.  No passports needed and no security lines.  Perhaps you can even plan a trip there post-COVID-19.  Enjoy!

Complexity Simplified

Ever get lost when communicating or reading comments on social media?  Social media has spawned huge list of new terms that are changing how we speak.  Look at this text for example:

Mom:  Grandma died. LoL.
Son: Mom! What the heck?

LoL is laugh out loud, not lots of love.  See how confusing it can be??  In addition, the younger generation laughs when they get texts from older relatives that are in complete sentences and written like letters.  So, it’s not just language but also in format!

Anyway, here’s a link that can help you out for acronyms and new words: Internet Slang  It’s constantly updated, so you can stay current…for better or worse!
