While I strive to remain apolitical in my writing, it would be a disservice to ignore investors' concerns about how their portfolios might perform under a Democratic or Republican administration. According to Teresa Murray, director of the consumer watchdog office at U.S. PIRG, calling the airline's customer service line or using its app is more effective than queuing at the airport desk.

Additionally, be sure to keep all documentation and receipts. This includes the names of customer service representatives, confirmation numbers for refunds, and screenshots or photos of canceled flights.
